Week 8
Love em

Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger has to look good this week against a Cincinnati defense that has allowed plenty of yards from the air lately. Also expect Eli Manning to put on quite the display for our English cousins this week as the Giants tackle the Dolphins in London. I also think that Philip Rivers could supply some value against the Texans. Houston have struggled a bit lately and have got away with some close wins.

Receivers

Steve Smith could be useful even though the Panthers are pretty much bound to be beaten up by the Colts, after all he’s Steve Smith. Braylon Edwards should go well at St Louis, he has solid averages in receiving yards and receptions per game. Joey Galloway is a great threat in Jacksonville, always presenting the possibility of a big, game changing play.

Running Backs

LaDainian Tomlinson should be your favourite person in the world as the Chargers look to shock the Texans. If Maurice Jones-Drew’s knee really is fine, then he’s a mandatory start against the Buccaneers. Marshawn Lynch should also provide some great value against the Jets.

Defensive Units

The Miami offensive line is lacking a lot of explosiveness at the moment, which means that Giants defensive unit has to be rubbing its collective hands and cackling like madmen, expect big things in London from the Giants. The Chargers should excel against the Texans. I also like the Packers unit against the Broncos, they’ve been tough on the run and have more to offer than many people realise.

Quarterbacks

Cleo Lemon is going to have a bad, bad week. He will be sacked and rushed and pressured out of the pocket. New England are going to make it really tough on Jason Campbell. I’m sure that Daunte Culpepper is probably a very nice guy, he might even be your friend if you met him at a party. For fantasy purposes, Daunte’s not your friend, let him go.

Receivers

Torry Holt’s not so bad in his own right, but with the Rams O-line in such deep trouble (how many starting configurations have they had now?) there’s not going to be much time to get the ball to Holt. It’s going to be a similar story for Marty Booker as the Giants D will be looking to run right over the Dolphins offensive line. I also wouldn’t bother with Ronald Curry this week, again you just can’t trust that Culpepper (who is expected to start) will deliver the ball with any consistency.

Running Backs

I’d forget about Travis Henry this week, I just don’t think that he’s going to have the moves to overcome the Packers and his ribs are still questionable. Now, it’s not that I think Laurence Maroney is no good, it’s just that the Patriots have so many options, it’s near impossible for him to get the amount of work he needs to post good numbers. Ahman Green will probably play this week, but I’d wait at least one more before I considered letting him back into your roster.

Defensive Units

Miami pretty much have to consider their trip to London as a chance to get in some sightseeing and do a little shopping, give them a rest. While we’re looking for units to rest, does anybody think Washington is going to shut down the Patriots? Me neither, give them the week off. I also think that the Bengals defense is going to be shown up by the Steelers.
